  • 32 caramels
  • 5 Tbsp. cream
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 c. oatmeal
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 3/4 c. soft butter
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Directions

    Melt caramels in a double boiler with cream.

    Mix flour, oatmeal, brown sugar, soda, butter and salt until crumbly.

    Put half of crumbly mixture in a 9 x 13-inch pan and bake for 10 minutes at 350°.

    Put on chocolate chips, nuts (optional) and caramel mixture.

    Spread rest of dry mixture over the top.

    Bake 15 minutes more at 350°.
