Caramel Corn(Like Cracker Jacks)

  • 1 c. popcorn
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1/2 c. white syrup
  • 1/4 c. molasses

    Pop the corn; remove unpopped kernels and set aside.

    Cook remaining ingredients over low heat to 240° or soft ball stage (2 minute boil).

    Remove from heat, then add 1/2 teaspoon baking soda.

    Pour over popped corn, mixing well.

    Put in 2 large dripper pans (I use 2 cookie sheets); put in 200° oven for 45 minutes. Remove onto waxed paper and cool.
