Caramel Nut Pound Cake

  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 box light brown sugar
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs or 6 medium ones
  • 3 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. sweet milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped nuts or chopped walnuts

    Cream butter, shortening and brown sugar.

    Beat well.

    Now, add granulated sugar and mix until light and fluffy.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well each 3 minutes.

    Add milk and vanilla and mix.

    Mix nuts.

    Save 1/2 cup.

    Add flour before adding nuts. Bake in pan for 1 hour and 30 minutes at 325°.
