Caramel Nut Pound Cake

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 (14 oz.) box brown sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 c. cake flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. finely chopped black walnuts

    Cream butter and shortening.

    Add brown sugar and white sugar. Add one egg at a time.

    Beat until well creamed.

    Add flour, salt, baking powder and vanilla, then add nuts.

    Blend well. Place mixture in greased and floured 10-inch tube pan and bake at 325° for one hour.
