- 1 c. (2 sticks) butter
- 2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 c. corn syrup (light or dark)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 6 qt. popped corn
Directions

1Pop the corn and set aside in large roasting pan.

2Melt butter; stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and salt.

3Bring to boil, stirring constantly.

4Boil without stirring for 5 minutes.

5Remove from heat; stir in soda and vanilla.

6Gradually pour hot caramel over popped corn, mixing well.

7Turn into two shallow roasting pans.

8Bake in 250° oven for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Remove from oven.

9Pour into bowl; toss and stir while cooling. Store in tightly covered container.

10Makes about 5 quarts caramel popped corn.
