- 2 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 c. light corn syrup
- 2 sticks oleo
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 6 qt. popcorn (2 air popper loads)
Directions

1In Dutch oven or 2 1/2-quart saucepan, combine all but baking soda and popcorn.

2Bring to boil, stirring over medium-high heat. Stir constantly and bring to 260° (hard ball; after boiling, stir and cook 5 minutes if no candy thermometer is used).

3Stir in baking soda quickly but thoroughly.

4Pour at once over popcorn; stir.

5Bake at 200° for 1 hour; stir 2 or 3 times. Spread on wax paper to cool.
