  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 1 lb. plus 1 c. light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. cooking oil
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 1/2 c. plain flour
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Cream the butter, sugar and oil until light.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Sift flour, salt and baking powder together. Add to sugar mixture alternately with milk. Add vanilla. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake in a 350° oven 60 to 65 minutes until done.

    Cool cake 30 minutes and remove from pan.

    Ice cake.
