  • 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. cornmeal
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. shortening

    Wash and drain okra.

    Cut off tips and stem ends.

    Cut into 1/2-inch slices and set aside.

    Combine dry ingredients and mix well.

    Stir egg into okra.
