- 1 qt. okra
- 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/2 c. cornmeal
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 c. shortening
Directions

1Wash and drain okra.

2Cut off tips and stem ends.

3Cut into 1/2-inch slices and set aside.

4Combine dry ingredients and mix well.

5Stir egg into okra.

6Dredge okra in flour mixture.

7Heat shortening in large skillet until hot.

8Add okra and fry until brown and crisp.

9Drain well.
