  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. butter or oleo
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. nuts (optional)
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. butter flavoring

    Cream together the butter, shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time.

    Sift the flour and baking powder together.

    Add alternately with milk.

    Add flavoring and nuts.

    Put into a greased and floured tube pan; bake at 350° for about 1 1/2 hours.
