  • 1 pkg. caramels
  • 1/3 c. evaporated milk
  • 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 c. softened margarine
  • 6 oz. chocolate chips

Directions

    Melt together caramels and evaporated milk; set aside. Combine cake mix and margarine. Press 1/2 cake mixture into 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 8 minutes.

    Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips.

    Spread caramel mixture over this. Spread remaining batter over top of caramel layer, spreading evenly.

    Bake at 350° for 18 to 20 minutes.

    Cool slightly. Refrigerate 30 minutes. Cut into squares.
