  • 1 c. butter (2 sticks)
  • 2 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. light corn syrup
  • 1 (15 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Melt butter in a heavy 3-quart saucepan.

    Add brown sugar and salt.

    Stir in corn syrup, mixing well.

    Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly.

    Cook and stir over medium heat until candy reaches 245°.

    Remove from heat.

    Add vanilla; stir.

    Pour into a well-buttered 9 x 9-inch pan.

    Cool, cut and wrap.

    Makes 2 1/2 pounds.
