- 3 c. sugar
- 1 (No. 2) can dark Karo syrup
- 1 c. evaporated milk
- 1/2 stick margarine
Directions

1Put sugar, butter (margarine), syrup and half of milk into pan. Allow it to come to a boil.

2Add remaining milk slowly.

3Cook until thick, stirring constantly.

4Takes about 1 hour slow cooking. (First samples in water.)

5Done when sample clicks against rim of glass but is still soft inside.

6When done, add 1 tablespoon of vanilla or walnut flavoring.

7Pour into buttered pan.

8Allow to set until firm.

9Cut in pieces.
