- 1 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. butter
- 1/2 c. nuts (optional)
- 3/4 c. light corn syrup
- 1 c. light cream
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Combine sugar, syrup, butter and 1/2 cup cream.

2Bring to boil stirring constantly, then add 1/2 cup cream and cook slowly to 240° for very soft caramels and 255° for hard caramels.

3Remove from heat and add nuts if desired and vanilla.

4Pour into buttered 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.

5Score into squares when nearly cooled.

6Cut when cold.

7Wrap each caramel in waxed paper.

8Keep in airtight container.
