- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 3 lb. chuck or rump of beef, cut into slices 1/2 inch thick
- 1 1/2 lb. yellow onions, thinly sliced
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 bottle beer
- 1 c. beef stock
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- bay leaf
- thyme
- parsley
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. vinegar
Directions

1Heat butter and oil to sizzling.

2Brown the beef.

3Reduce heat and brown onions.

4Season with salt and pepper and stir in the garlic.

5Layer the beef and onions in a casserole.

6Pour in beer and stock.

7Stir in the sugar.
