Casserole Cheese Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 c. scalded milk
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1 c. grated Cheddar cheese
  • 4 1/2 c. sifted flour

Directions

    Scald milk; add sugar, salt and margarine.

    Let cool. Dissolve yeast in water.

    Add milk and cheese and flour.

    Stir about 2 minutes until well blended.

    Cover; let rise until more than double.

    Stir down and beat vigorously for 1/2 minute.

    Turn in greased 1 1/2 quart casserole or two 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pans. Bake at 375° for 1 hour (no second rising).
