- 1/4 c. butter
- 4 c. sliced celery
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper (white)
- 2 Tbsp. finely chopped green onion tops
- 2 Tbsp. chopped onion
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1/2 c. chicken broth
- 1/2 c. milk
- 1/4 c. slivered, toasted almonds
- coarsely ground white pepper
Directions

1Melt butter in saucepan.

2Add celery, salt and pepper.

3Cover and cook until celery is crisp and tender.

4Shake pan frequently to prevent scorching.

5Add green onion tops and onion.

6Cook 2 minutes longer.

7Combine flour and broth; blend into celery mixture.

8Stir and cook until sauce begins to thicken.

9Stir in milk and simmer about 2 minutes.

10Add almonds; toss gently.

11Sprinkle with coarsely ground pepper.
