- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 2 1/2 c. warm water
- 6 tsp. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. vegetable oil
- 4 eggs
- 9 c. flour (as needed)
- 1 egg yolk and 1 tsp. water
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water in large bowl. Add sugar, salt, oil, eggs and approximately 6 cups flour. Beat thoroughly. Add more flour. Turn onto floured surface and knead adding more flour as needed. Place in greased covered bowl until tripled or 1 1/2 hours. Divide into thirds.

2Divide each third again into thirds and shape into 3 ropes.

3Braid ropes together. Let rise on cookie sheets until triple. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle with poppy seed.

4Bake at 375° for 25 to 30 minutes or golden brown.
