Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 2 1/2 c. warm water (100~ to 110~)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. light vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 9 c. unbleached white flour (approximately)
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 Tbsp. water (for glaze)

Directions

    Combine yeast and water in a large mixing bowl, stirring until dissolved.

    Add the sugar, oil, salt and eggs.

    Using a wooden spoon, beat in 3 cups flour to make a smooth batter.

    Gradually add enough flour to make a soft, workable dough that pulls away from sides of the bowl.

    Turn out onto a large, lightly floured surface and knead 8 to 10 minutes, adding more flour as needed.
