Cheddar Broiled Tomatoes

  • 3 large tomatoes, cut in half
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 14 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 12 cups fresh breadcrumbs
  • 34 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 14 cup butter or 14 cup margarine, melted
  • 12 teaspoon paprika

    Preheat broiler.

    Cut thin slice from bottom of each tomato half; discard.

    Place tomatoes on rack of broiler pan; sprinkle with salt and pepper.

    Mix bread crumbs, cheese and butter until well blended; spoon evenly over tomatoes.

    Sprinkle with paprika.

    Broil, 3 to 5 inches from heat, 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.
