Cheddar Cheese Biscuits

  • 2 c. flour
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 Tbsp. confectioners sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 2/3 c. cold milk
  • 8 oz. Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 tsp. garlic, minced
  • 1/4 c. parsley, minced

    Preheat oven to 450°. Stir flour, baking powder and sugar in a large bowl. Cut in shortening evenly. Stir in milk with a fork. Stir in cheese. Place butter and garlic in 9 x 13-inch pan in oven until butter melts. Remove pan from oven; stir in parsley. Form small dough balls about 1/4 cup size. Drop into melted butter; turn to coat well. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until just golden. Spoon any remaining butter on top. Serve warm. Makes 12.
