  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 1/2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (6 oz.)
  • 4 to 6 Tbsp. water
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 6 c. peeled apple slices
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine

    Combine flour and salt; cut in shortening until mix resembles coarse crumbs.

    Stir in cheese.

    Add water while mixing lightly with a fork; form into ball.

    Divide dough in half.

    On lightly floured surface, roll dough ball to 12-inch circle.
