- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 14 teaspoon baking soda
- 18 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 23 cup buttermilk
- 1 pinch cayenne
- 12 cup packed aged grated sharp cheddar cheese
Directions

1Preheat the oven to 450 degrees.

2In a midium bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cayenne, and salt.

3Whisk gently to blend.

4With a pastry blender or two knives, cut in the butter and Cheddar cheese until the mixture resembles coarse meal.

6Add the buttermilk and stir until just blended; do not overmix.
