Ingredients

  • 6 to 9 c. flour
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 3 c. milk
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c. (16 oz.) shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions

    In a large bowl combine 4 cups of the flour and the yeast. Heat milk, sugar and salt until warm (115° to 120°), stirring to dissolve sugar.

    Add to flour mixture, along with eggs and cheese. With electric mixer on low, beat until well blended.

    By hand, stir in remaining flour to make a stiff dough.

    Turn dough onto lightly floured surface and knead until smooth.

    Place in large greased bowl; cover with clean towel and let rise until double in bulk. Divide dough; knead and place in greased bread pans.

    Will make 3 large loaves.

    Bake at 350° for 45 minutes, until golden brown on top.

    Remove from pan and butter top of loaves.

    Let cool.
