  • 2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
  • 1/4 c. vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 c. grated Cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 c. chopped fresh chives
  • 1 c. milk

Directions

    Mix flour and shortening until it resembles coarse crumbs.

    Add milk, grated cheese and chives and work in extra flour until dough pulls from sides of bowl.

    Roll out to 1/2-inch thick and cut with floured cutter.

    Brush tops with melted butter.

    Bake until golden brown at 425°, about 12 minutes.
