Cherry Balls

Ingredients

  • 2 jars of cherries
  • 1 c oleo
  • 1/2 c sifted powdered sugar
  • 2 c sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions

    Drain cherries from juice (save juice).

    Set aside.

    Mix oleo, powdered sugar, flour, salt and vanilla together.

    Add enough water to get the mixture the texture of a pie crust.

    Make little balls and flatten in hand.

    Roll 1/2 of a cherry inside dough. Bake at 350° until light brown (approx 10-12 minutes). After they cool, roll into icing mixture (recipe follows) completely covering the balls.

    Place on wax paper to dry.

    Makes 5 dozen, depending on size.
