- 1 (2 layer) white cake mix
- 1/4 tsp. almond extract
- red food coloring
- 1 (1 lb. 5 oz.) can cherry pie filling
- 1 tsp. grated orange peel
- 2 (2 or 2 1/4 oz.) pkg. Cool Whip
Directions

1Prepare cake mix according to package directions, adding almond extract to batter.

2Remove 1/3 of batter to another bowl; stir in 10 to 12 drops red food coloring.

3Spoon in pink and white batters alternately into two greased and floured 9 x 1 1/2-inch layer cake pans.

4Cut through batter with knife or spatula to marble.

5Bake in moderate oven (350°) for 25 to 30 minutes.

6Cool for 10 minutes.

7Remove from pans; cool on racks.

8Stir together pie filling and orange peel.

9Prepare Cool Whip, adding 8 to 10 drops red food coloring.
