- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 3 Tbsp. skim milk
- 3 tsp. Fasweet
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 c. water packed sour cherries (with juice)
- 2 Tbsp. quick cooking tapioca
Directions

1Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a large mixing bowl. Cut in shortening until consistency of cornmeal.

2Combine milk, 1 teaspoon of the Fasweet and the beaten egg.

3Add to the dry ingredients, stirring only until dampened.

4Meanwhile, sweeten cherries with remaining Fasweet.

5Place in a 1-quart casserole and sprinkle with tapioca.

6Spoon batter over cherries.

7Bake in a moderate oven (350°) 30 to 40 minutes or until top is golden brown. Serves 8.
