  • 1 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 c. margarine or butter
  • 3 T. confectioners sugar
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 t. baking powder
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. nuts, chopped
  • 1/2 c. coconut
  • 1/2 c. quartered maraschino cherries

    Mix butter, flour and confectioners sugar until smooth. Spread thin with the fingers in an 8 or 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Mix the rest of the ingredients together and spread over the top of the baked pastry. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
