- 1 cup walnuts
- 1-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- margarine
- 1/2 cup flaked coconut
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 can cherry pie filling
Directions

1Chop 1/2 c. of the walnuts coarsely-reserve for the topping.

2Chop remaining 1/2 c. walnuts fine.

3Combine flour, brown sugar and butter.

4Blend to fine crumbs.

5Add coconut and finely chopped nuts.

6Mix well.

7Reserve 1/2 c. of this mixture.

8Pat remaining mixture into 9x13 greased & floured pan.

9Bake 12-15 minutes at 350F until edges are light brown.

10Mix sugar and cream cheese.

11Stir in egg and vanilla.

12Beat until smooth.

13Spread over hot layer.

14Bake additional 10 minutes longer.

15Remove and spread with cherry filling and sprinkle with remaining walnuts and reserved crumb mixture.

16Bake 15 minutes.

17Cool.
-
18Serve as is or top with whipped cream or ice cream.
