Cherry Pecan Bread

Ingredients

  • 4 oz. jar maraschino cherries
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c. cherry juice
  • 2 Tbsp. melted oleo
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1/4 c. orange juice
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 2 c. flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt

Directions

    Pour off cherry juice and reserve.

    Quarter cherries.

    Stir in sugar and butter.

    Pour in orange, cherry juice and water.

    Mix well.

    Sift dry ingredients and add a small amount at a time to your mixture.

    Add chopped nuts.

    Pour into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350° for 1 to 1 1/4 hours.

    Glaze with powdered sugar, milk mixture.

    Decorate with chopped cherries and pecans.
