Cherry Pecan Bread

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. buttermilk (add 1 tsp. vinegar to milk to sour)
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Cream the butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Sift flour, soda and salt. Add to mixture with buttermilk.

    Blend well. Stir in pecans, cherries and vanilla.

    Pour into greased and floured pans. Bake at 350° for 55 to 60 minutes. Cool a few minutes and remove from pans.
