  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries, drained and chopped
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    In a large mixing bowl, cream together sugar, butter and eggs until light and fluffy.

    Sift together flour, soda and salt; add to creamed mixture with the buttermilk.

    Beat until blended.

    Stir in nuts, cherries and vanilla.

    Pour batter into greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan.

    Bake in 350° oven for 55 to 60 minutes.
