- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. red food coloring
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 c. cherry juice
- 2 (16 oz.) cans cherries
Directions

1Mix sugar, salt, cornstarch and cherry juice in saucepan. Cook until it begins to boil.

2Stir constantly.

3Add drained cherries and continue cooking until the desired thickness is reached.

4Remove from heat and add butter and red coloring.

5Cool. Pour into pastry lined open dish and add top crust or strips of pastry.

6Bake at 450° for ten minutes, then reduce temperature to 375° for 15 to 20 minutes.
