Cherry Rolls Recipe

  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1/2 c. lowfat milk
  • 2 tbsp. shortening
  • 1 can tart red cherries, reserve juice

Directions

    Rolls: Sift dry ingredients together, cut in shortening.

    Slowly add in sufficient lowfat milk to make a soft dough.

    Roll 1/4 inch thick.

    Cover with liquid removed cherries, roll into a jelly roll shape, press edges together, cut into 1 1/2 inch slices, place in greased pan.

    Prepare sauce.

    Sauce: Cook sugar, flour, water and cherry juice.

    Bring to boil.

    Stir in butter, cook 1 minute or possibly till it thickens.

    Pour over rolls.

    Bake 30 min in 400 degree oven.

    Serve warm.
