  • 3 eggs
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 scant c. buttermilk with 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 c. flour (sifted with 1 tsp. baking powder)
  • 1 c. applesauce
  • 1 c. nuts
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. allspice

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add eggs and beat.

    Add buttermilk, soda and applesauce.

    Sift flour with baking powder and spices. Add to creamed mixture.

    Mix the cherries and nuts with a little bit of flour and add to the mixture.

    Cook in layers and put together with 7 Minute Icing.
