Ingredients
- 1 (3 lb.) frying chicken, cut up
- 1/2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/4 tsp. oregano
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1/2 green pepper, chopped
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 1/2 c. sliced mushrooms
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1/2 c. shortening
Directions

1Coat chicken with mixture of flour, salt and pepper.

2Using most of shortening, fry chicken until golden brown.

3Reserve 2 tablespoons of oil for a separate pan.

4Slowly cook garlic, onions, pepper and mushrooms in reserved oil until soft.

5Pour over chicken.

6Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and oregano.

7Cover and cook over low heat for 1 1/2 hours or until chicken is tender. Stir occasionally while cooking.

8Serve with spaghetti noodles.
