- 2 1/2 to 3 lb. chicken, cut up
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. flour
- 2 c. thinly sliced onions
- 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes, drained
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. celery seed
Directions

1Flour chicken and cook in oil over medium heat 15 to 20 minutes or until light brown.

2Remove chicken and set aside.

3Add onions, green pepper and garlic to skillet.

4Cook and stir over medium heat until tender.

5Stir in remaining ingredients.

6Add chicken to sauce.

7Cover lightly.

8Simmer 45 minutes or until thickest pieces are fork-tender.
