Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. dried oregano, crushed
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 2/3 c. dry white wine or 2 tsp. instant chicken bouillon dissolved in 2/3 c. hot water
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • 1 c. mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 medium tomatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tsp. sugar

Directions

    Combine flour, oregano, salt and pepper.

    Reserve 1 tablespoon mixture; coat chicken with remaining mixture.

    In oven-going skillet, brown chicken in butter.

    Combine wine and lemon juice; pour over chicken.

    Add onion.

    Bake, covered, in 350° oven about 45 minutes or until tender.

    Remove chicken to platter.

    Keep warm.

    Add mushrooms, tomatoes and sugar to mixture in skillet. Cook about 4 minutes or until vegetables are tender.

    Blend reserved flour mixture and 1/4 cup cold water; add to sauce.

    Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly.
