Chicken 'N Dumplings

Ingredients

  • 1 whole fryer
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • sweet milk

Directions

    Boil fryer until tender. Remove from broth and set aside to cool. Mix dry ingredients.

    Cut in shortening.

    Add beaten eggs and enough milk to make a stiff dough. Roll out really thin on heavily floured board.

    Cut into pieces (pizza cutter works great!).

    Drop into rapidly boiling broth.

    Cover and simmer on very low heat for 5 to 10 minutes. Remove skin and bones from chicken and pull into bite size pieces.

    Add chicken to pot and season to taste with black pepper.

    I pour about a cup of sweet milk in pot just as it's finished cooking.
