  • 2 little spoons salt and pepper
  • 5 little spoons bakin* powders
  • 1 ag*
  • 2 big heapin* spoons lard
  • water, enuf* to make a dough

    Pa gits* me a big fat plum hen.

    After she's been kilt* , clean her up real good by pluckin* all the feathers off'n her.

    Senge* the pin feathers off'n her by holding her over a paper poke* that's been set a far* . Then worsh* her real good.

    Cut her up and put in a kettle of water with salt and pepper.

    Bil* until tender.

    Add dumplins* by pinching off and cook til they git* hard.
