- 1 whole chicken
- 1 inch gingerroot
- 4 tablespoons sesame oil
- 12 cucumber
- 5 tablespoons soya sauce
- 1 12 cups jasmine rice
- 2 tablespoons margarine
- 1 tablespoon garlic
- 1 teaspoon saffron
- 1 teaspoon salt & pepper
- 1 tablespoon chicken stock
- 1 pandan leaf
Directions

1Rinse the chicken.

2Crush the ginger and put it in the chicken.

3Wait for the water in the pot to boil.

4Once boiling, stick the chicken in it.

5Make sure that the water covers the whole chicken.

6Boil for up to 15-20 minutes.

7Make sure that its fully cooked.

8While waiting for the chicken to cook.

9Wash the uncooked rice in water.

10Drain in a strainer.

11Let stand for 5 minutes till there is no more dripping water.

12Heat a frying pan, melt the margarine, and throw in garlic.

16Put in the salt, pepper, chicken stock and saffron powder (The saffron powder is what makes the rice yellow.

18Once everything is mixed well, take out of frying pan and put it into a rice cooker.

19For easy way to measure the water to rice ratio, use your index finger to measure the depth of the rice and remember where it hits on your finger.

21Then simply rest your index finger on top of the rice and add water until it hits the same spot on your finger as the rice did before.

22But for yellow rice, the rice should be a little grainier, so only put in a little less water.

23Put the Pandan leaf in with the rice and let it cook.

24If the rice comes out too grainy for your taste, just add a little more water and press the cook button again.

25Your chicken should be ready by now, take out the chicken put in a bowl.

26Rub the whole chicken with the sesame oil.

28Cut the chicken as desired.

29Lay some cucumber slices on the side of a plate, arrange cut chicken on the plate.

30Mix Soya sauce and sesame oil together and pour all over the chicken and cucumber.

31Add salt to the chicken soup.

32You can put in leaks or any leafy vegetable of your choice.

33Serve chicken with yellow rice and a bowl of soup.
