- 1 to 2 lb. chicken
- 1 sliced onion
- 8 c. water
- 1/2 lb. pared, quartered potatoes
- 2 oz. vermicelli, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 2 oz. chopped smoked ham
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 Tbsp. salt
Directions

1Divide the chicken into pieces at joints.

2Add to the water with ham, garlic, onion and salt.

3Let stand for half an hour. Place over the heat until the chicken is tender.

4Strain.

5Add potatoes, vermicelli and chicken pieces.

6Cook until the potatoes are done.
