  • 1 1/2 c. red kidney beans (3 cans)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 lb. beef or venison hamburger (optional)
  • 1 lb. can tomatoes (2 c.)
  • 1 (8 oz.) can (1 c.) tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 tsp. chile pepper (more for hotter chile)
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Brown onion, green pepper and meat in hot frypan.

    Add beans, tomatoes, tomato paste and seasonings.

    Cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours, stirring often.
