- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 1/2 lb. ground round or lean ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 can red kidney beans
- 1 can tomatoes plus 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 1/2 to 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. sugar
- pepper to taste
- garlic salt (if desired)
Directions

1Brown onion slightly in butter; add ground meat.

2Cover, but stir occasionally until meat is nicely browned.

3Add beans, rinsed of their liquid and tomatoes.

4Season with salt, pepper, sugar and chili powder to suit taste.

5Cook mixture slowly for 1 hour, tightly covered.

6Water may be added if too thick.

7This is good cooked in a crock-pot also.
