Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
- 2/3 c. chopped onion
- 1/3 c. chopped green pepper
- 15 oz. can tomatoes, cut up (with juice)
- 15 oz. can tomato puree
- 1 large can red kidney beans, drained
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed and chopped
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 1/2 tsp. cumin
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- Tabasco sauce (2 to 3 dashes or more if you like it hot)
- salt and pepper to taste
- shredded cheese (Monterey or other)
Directions

1Brown ground beef with onion and green pepper.

2Drain and place in pot.

3Add tomatoes, puree and garlic and simmer 10 minutes.

4Add chili powder, cumin, oregano and Tabasco.

5Simmer 10 minutes and taste.

6Add salt and pepper as needed.

7Can also sprinkle small amount (about 1/2 teaspoon) of sugar if too acidy. Simmer 20 minutes, then add beans and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

8Serve in bowl over rice or plain. Sprinkle with cheese.
