Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves crushed garlic
  • 16 oz. can stewed tomatoes
  • 6 oz. can tomato paste
  • 2 1/2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp. ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp. ground red pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. flour

    Saute crumbled ground beef, onion and garlic in large Dutch oven until browned.

    Drain.

    Add remaining ingredients, stirring well to blend.

    Simmer, uncovered, 35 to 45 minutes until thick. Keep hot in Dutch oven.

    Chili may be prepared a day ahead.

    Cover and refrigerate.

    When ready to serve, heat thoroughly.

    Makes 4 cups.
