- 4 c. water
- 1 lb. ground chuck
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes, cut up
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1 c. dried lentils
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 Tbsp. chili powder
Directions

1Bring water to boil and add lentils, cover and simmer 30 minutes or until tender and drain.

2Cook ground chuck, onion and garlic until browned.

3Combine meat mixture, lentils, tomatoes, chili powder, oregano and salt in Dutch oven and cook over high heat until mixture comes to a boil.

4Reduce heat to low.

5Cover and simmer 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

6Makes 6 servings.
