  • 6 c. cooked, sliced beets
  • 1 1/2 c. beet liquid
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 24 whole cloves
  • 3 Tbsp. catsup
  • 3 Tbsp. cooking oil (optional)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • dash of salt

Directions

    Drain beets and reserve 1 1/2 cups of the liquid they were cooked in.

    Place beets and ingredients that are listed plus reserved liquid in saucepan.

    Mix well and cook 3 minutes over medium heat until thickened.

    Let cool and then store in refrigerator.

    May be served hot or cold.
