- 6 c. water
- 4 c. walnut halves
- 1/2 c. sugar
- vegetable oil
- salt
Directions

1Pour water into a 4-quart saucepan; bring to a boil.

2Add walnuts and allow to return to a boil.

3Cook 1 minute and drain. Rinse walnuts under hot water; drain well.

4Combine warm walnuts and sugar in a large mixing bowl.

5Stir until sugar dissolves. Heat 1-inch of oil to 350°.

6Fry walnuts in oil for 5 minutes or until golden brown.

7Drain on paper towels.

8Sprinkle lightly with salt.

9Cool. Store walnuts in a tightly covered container.

10Yields 4 cups.
