  • 9-inch pie shell
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp. vinegar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, divided
  • 3/4 c. sugar, divided
  • 2 slightly beaten egg yolks
  • 1/4 c. water
  • 1 c. (6 oz.) chocolate bits, melted
  • 1 c. whipping cream

Directions

    Beat together egg whites, vinegar, salt and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon until soft mounds form.

    Add 1/2 cup sugar gradually, beating until meringue stands in stiff, glossy peaks.

    Spread on bottom and sides of pie shell.

    Bake at 325° for 15 to 18 minutes until lightly browned.

    Cool.

    In bowl, combine egg yolks with water and melted chocolate.

    Spread 3 tablespoons over cooled meringue.

    Chill the remainder.
